It could have been the printhead that needed some attention, but it was the carriage. The initial problem was the printer was not printing the colors at all and the black was very faint and patchy. I have had this printer for some time now and just recently it has not printed anything in black ink. The HP Tango X writes the book on bookshelf printers. Open up the print and use a flash light to examine everything in site. I cleaned everything, blew through the pipes and through the purge unit pipes and, I hope correctly, refitted the pipes to the purge unit.
Any help would be wonderful. I am going by experience with canon printers and without the fee. I reassembled everything so carefully especially the smartbasr with the aid of a magnifying glass.

Remove all the ink carts and the printhead and clean the contacts on the back of the head and inside the carriage. I had same problem and after you get to test mode push set after each option you choose.
I have followed all of the advice on the FYOP forum to get the black and colours going again even to a complete strip down for access to the purge unit. Soooo to get mpp730 all working, the printhead has to work, the ink carts must allow air in the top for ink to flow out the bottom, and the main PC cart must turn on all the electronics at exactly the correct time.
I have an MP and I would like to find out how to remove the ink pad.

Two problems, the black won’t print – but I will try the straw trick and see if that cures that problem. Photo Books Photo Books. Or unplugging it during the night, to reset the printer. Now you can move the carriage by hand both left and right. Once the carriage moves to the center, pull out the power cord. MP – 10 business envelope printing, worked well for a couple years but now cannot get printer to print address in proper location.
Then I padded dry the spongy Ink Absorbers one for black ink and the other for color ink using Separate cotton swabs for each absorber.

I could stay here tonight and continue to write information on each and every part of the printer that is involved with this process. Make sure your ink cartrides are in the correct location in the print head and the colors are pure and not contaminated.
The water you use should be no hotter than you can stand on you hands as you hold the head. I have a mp printer. When you changed the ink carts, did you ever run a cleaning cycle from the PC, or a Deep cleaning cycle.
With other words the cartridges remains hidden on the right carriage end. I fixed it, I went to maint. I now have detailed photographic manuals for all Canon printers starting with the i, iand all the way up to the MP Take a close look at the purge unit where the ink parking pads are located and see if the wiper blades are stuck extended.
